License keys, not trust-based reporting.

Every license is a cryptographic key. The module validates on install, binds to the customer's database, and keeps itself honest. You don't report sales to us — the system already knows.

Install with the key

Deploy the module into your customer's Odoo database. The key activates on first install and binds to that database's unique identifier — no license server in the customer's network to manage.

The technical and commercial questions, answered.

How does the license key validation actually work?

The module calls api/license/activateon first install with the license key and a hash of the Odoo database's unique identifier. The key binds to that database and can't be used elsewhere. A weekly heartbeat to api/license/validate keeps the license active. If the heartbeat fails for extended periods (30-day warning, 60-day degradation), the module enters a reduced-function state — but temporary connectivity issues never cause problems.

What happens when a customer migrates their Odoo database?

Contact us with a rebinding request. Legitimate migrations (server moves, infrastructure changes, backup restoration) are approved routinely. The license key gets unbound from the old database fingerprint and rebound to the new one, and the module reactivates on the new database seamlessly.

Is there a minimum I have to commit to?

No minimums, no batch sizes, no annual commitments. Buy one key at a time or twenty. The only termination trigger related to volume is zero activations for 12 consecutive months — if you're genuinely using the program, that's not a concern.

Do I pay for keys when I request them or when I activate them?

At request. When you click “issue 5 keys,” those 5 keys are billable at the moment of issuance, regardless of when (or whether) you activate them. This is standard wholesale licensing practice and keeps the program simple on both sides. Unused keys carry over indefinitely while the agreement is active.

Can I list this on my own app marketplace or resell it online?

No. The Odoo Apps marketplace is our direct channel — you can't list it there, or on any equivalent public marketplace. You sell through your existing customer channels: direct quotes, bundled implementations, your own sales team. Private deals, no restrictions.

What if my customer stops paying me? Does Vinc brick their module?

No. Once a license key is activated, it's activated for the lifetime of that database. Commercial issues between you and your customer stay between you and your customer — we don't use the licensing system as a collection mechanism on your behalf. If your own Vinc account becomes overdue on invoices, we can suspend issuance of new keys, but already-activated customer deployments keep running.

Is there a free demo or trial for prospects?

The module has a publicly accessible listing on the Odoo Apps marketplace with full documentation, screenshots, and videos. For live demo environments, most resellers set up a demo Odoo instance with a Vinc license and walk prospects through it directly. For well-established partner relationships, we can discuss demo license arrangements on a case-by-case basis.

Can I also resell the hosted Vinc SaaS alongside this?

Yes, and many partners do both. The SaaS reseller program is a separate track with recurring commissions on hosted getvinc.com customers. You can apply to either program individually or both together — the application form has the option.
